As a massive hot yoga fan I was delighted when I found out Maghull Health Studios had opened a Hot yoga studio as it’s not far from me. I started to practise about 2 years ago and I’ve become so much more flexible and can get into positions I never thought was possible and really helps me lengthen and strengthen my body.
It clears my mind and helps me de-stress but best of all have a relaxing sleep. As well as it being so good for you. When I started the practise at Maghull health studios my daughter savannah started to come along with me and now she is also a massive fan and she has become really good at it. It’s something good and healthy for us to do for mum and daughter time.
The studio itself it’s very chilled and has an ambient vibe to it with candles lit and relaxing music and has a sense of calmness when you walk in. They use the latest infra-red heating Panels that warm up the body from the inside out to get rid of all the toxins.
ABOUT THE CLASSES
High standard for any level
In our hot room we have gained a reputation for having a high standard of instructors, helping people to get fit and healthy and coming away from our classes de-stressed, relaxed and revived!
With the guidance of our highly experienced teachers we help everybody achieve the full benefits of Hot Yoga… weight loss, body toning, back problems, sports performance, injury rehabilitation and stress, are just a few areas our members experience major improvements.
We have instructors from all backgrounds/practises that believe that yoga benefits our lives when practised on a daily basis. Our instructors all teach different styles of yoga ranging from Hatha, Vinyasa, Sivananda, Bikram, Iyengar, Ashtanga and meditation workshops including pranayama breath work so there is something for everyone on all levels and abilities.
Our hot yoga studio has been specially designed to give you the best possible environment for your yoga practice and to make your overall experience is the best it can be from the moment you walk through the door.
We have used the latest infra-red heating panels to heat the body from the inside out, helping to rid the body of toxins that build up in our system through our air, food, atmosphere etc. Our studio temperature ranges from 38-40 degrees.
Our air system is designed to pull stagnant air out of the studio and circulate fresh-heated air back in to maintain the right oxygen levels throughout your class while also maintaining the right humidity.
We have our room set with an ambient vibe with soft lighting, candles, relaxing music and incense burners to create an atmosphere of pure relaxation. Bliss!
WHY HOT YOGA?
There are a number of reason why you would choose hot yoga as part of your healthy, active lifestyle…
- Detoxification: heavy sweating is said to help flush toxins from the skin
- Lengthen, Strengthen: The heat also allows you to go a little more deeply and safely into the postures so you know you’re really warming up the muscles and you can really approach the postures from a safe place.
- It burns more calories than in a regular heated room: Practicing yoga in a heated room also elevates the heart rate, which makes the body work harder than in regular heat as your body has to try to cool you down at a higher rate. It’s really for people who want a more intense workout—those who want to develop strength, flexibility and tone along with a cardiovascular workout, depending on the yoga style.
- Relaxation & stress relief: relaxing improves breathing (which helps conditions like asthma) and focuses the mind, which develops better mental concentration and stress relief.
PREPARE AND HYDRATE
Being hydrated before your hot yoga class is essential. You will lose a lot of fluid during the class and therefore if you are dehydrated you could feel dizzy, nauseous, fatigued etc so it’s important to listen to your body and take a break when you need it.
Everyone is different but as guide you should ideally drink 2 litres of water before your class and sip water throughout your class. We recommend that you replace your fluids and electrolytes lost during the class with a natural drink such as coconut water to replenish what is lost.
Everybody is concentrating on their own practise and resting when they need it. There is no ego in hot yoga, so work with your body, relax when needed and you will benefit much more from your practise.
